Northern Ireland Photonics Innovation Cluster - NIPIC

In March 2025 Invest NI approved support for the establishment of a photonics Cluster Acceleration Programme (CAP) called NI Photonics Innovation Cluster (NIPIC).

Causeway Sensors Ltd is the lead Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SMEs)alongside a further 10 other SMEs who have committed to the programme.

NIPIC now wishes to appoint a facilitator to undertake an 18-month feasibility and activation programme to accelerate the development of a sustainable, high-impact photonics cluster in Northern Ireland. This programme builds on the cluster-based approach and collaborative success of initiatives such as the Digital Factory Accelerator (DFA) and is aligned with the Department for the Economy’s (DfE) strategic priorities of fostering good jobs, achieving regional balance, advancing Net Zero, and driving productivity.

Smart Nano NI activity,  supported by Strength in Places fund, Innovate UK has enabled tangible results, connections and opportunity for collaboration across the ecosystem.

The NIPIC opportunity continues this ambition to establish a self-sustaining photonics cluster in NI.
