SmartNano NI member spotlight – Laser test equipment manufacturer Yelo

Yelo specializes in the design and manufacture of burn-in and life test equipment which tests the reliability of laser devices. This is done through a process called burn-in, and its goal is to ensure complete functionality, and remove any potentially defective devices from reaching the field.

One of Yelo’s biggest strengths is its in-house mechanical design capability which looks after device fixturing and probing for many different types of lasers. Another key strength is its Research and Development division which provides solutions for complex issues such as thermal management. By having early discussions in the design phase of a new laser device, Yelo can advise a suitable approach needed to enable safe, repeatable device testing. Since its founding in 1983, Yelo has grown into a leading player in the photonics industry, delivering its products to big manufacturers in the USA, Asia and Europe.

In 2019 the company won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise - Britain’s most coveted commercial prize - for its outstanding export performance​
